2. Players

Tuesday 11 October 2022: 5pm to 7pm at Raphael Park Clubrooms
Uniform Collection – for all players in Year 3 to Year 11

For all players in Year 3 you will receive a complimentary club playing shirt and broad brimmed hat as it is your first year of Junior Cricket.

For all other new players to our club in Girls & Boys Year 3 to Year 11 you will also receive a complimentary club playing shirt, broad brimmed hat and yellow training cap as it is your first year of Junior Cricket.

Please bring your player along to try on different sizes before they collect their uniform. In our long experience it is sometimes hard to guess your player's shirt size and it is often very hard to guess your player's hat size.

For all returning players you can purchase replacement items tomorrow night.

  • Long sleeve shirts - $40
  • Short sleeve shirts - $40
  • Broad brimmed hats - $15
  • Training caps - $15
  • Black pants for girls - $20

We welcome both cash and credit cards.

All players in Girls Cricket Year 3 to Year 11 will need to buy black cricket pants. Our club has responded to feedback around barriers to girls wanting to play cricket when they have their periods by adopting this new uniform. For many players white pants cause period anxiety which leads to girls dropping out of cricket.

From now on all players in girls teams will wear black pants only. Girls in boys teams may choose to wear black or white pants. Black pants are not yet widely available in stores, so we will have an initial stock for purchase this season at $20 per pair to assist with the change-over.

All players in Boys Cricket Year 3 to Year 11 will need to buy white cricket pants, which are available from all sporting stores and also from Target, Best & Less, Kmart and Big W.

Cricket Blast players (PP-Yr 2) do NOT need to attend this night. Also cricket pants are NOT required at Blaster level.

Please refer to our website http://www.spjcc.com for more information on uniforms.

Helmets

All players in Year 3 to Year 11 will need a helmet. But you do not have to buy a helmet. The club has dozens of helmets available for players.

If you would like to borrow a helmet from the club for the season please contact spjcc.equipment@gmail.com & pick it up at the Uniform Night on Tuesday 11 October. There will be $50 bond for the helmet. This is fully refundable at the end of the season.

4. Volunteers required

The following roles for each team are vital in making your child’s cricket experience more enjoyable and worthwhile:

Other ways you can help:

  • Join the SPJCC Committee
  • Assist at training
  • Sponsor the Club or your child’s team

Please contact Inez de Wit, SPJCC Club Administrator on spjcc.club@gmail.com to register your interest or for more information about each role.

5. Social Media & Child Protection

Everybody is encouraged to share your cricket fun on facebook and other social media platforms.

However please be aware that some parents are uncomfortable featuring their children on social media. Often for very good reasons.  If a child can be identified in your photo please obtain the permission of the parents before posting it publicly to any social media platform.

But please don’t let this hold you back. There are lots of great photos that can give a sense of fun and cricket and not identify any individual children. Like this one.

As you can see, none of these children can be identified. They are all facing away or in the background.

Please continue sharing great photos like this to our facebook page. It is fantastic for everyone to see players having fun in every age group!

These precautions are all part of our club ensuring our children remain safe. We have endorsed and adopted Australian Cricket’s Policy for Safeguarding Children and Young People. We are committed to ensuring all Children and Young People participating in cricket feel safe, included, encouraged and supported.

This includes all adults in our club avoiding one-on-one unsupervised contact with Children and Young People at all times.

Child safety has always been our aim, but this season you will see that we have introduced a number of new steps and measures to help ensure it remains the case.

6. Equipment required this season

Four items your player must have before they can play this season.

As a club we had always been very proud to say that you could play cricket just by bringing yourself along. That we would provide all the equipment you need to train and play.

Unfortunately due changes since COVID-19, we can no longer provide all equipment to players.

Before the season commences all players from Year 3 to Year 11 will need to have these four items before they can play cricket.

  • Groin protector (compulsory for boys, optional for girls)
  • Hat
  • Helmet
  • Glove inners
Please remember, you do not have to buy a helmet. The club has dozens of helmets available for players.

If you would like to borrow a helmet from the club for the season please contact spjcc.equipment@gmail.com. There will be $50 bond for the helmet. This is fully refundable at the end of the season.

Please note Cricket Blast players do not need to purchase the four items listed as they play with a soft ball.
